Carlo V di Spagna
Succeeded Pier Luigi Farnese
After the death of Pier Luigi Farnese, Piacenza was occupied by imperial troops of Charles V, while Parma remained faithful to Paul III Farnese family and hastened to declare Ottavio Farnese, Duke of Parma and the feudal lord of the church.
Spanish troops were not well accepted by the people of Piacenza and Charles V abdicated after the conspiracy of Piacenza, by empowering his son Philip II to return the city to the Roman Curia and the Farnese; then retired to a convent.
